If you're looking for archaelogical evidence of Oldton's existence, I give you the Oldton pot.
I didn't dig it up, admittedly. In fact, it wasn't formally 'excavated' at all. It's an 18th century tobacco jar that I acquired from an online antiques store that has itself recently disappeared.
The engraving beneath the jocund, fat boozer on the side of the jar would appear to read 'Oldton', so at last it seems I have a genuine piece of my disappeared town. When you open the lid, there's still a strong whiff of ash. Burned tobacco, you think? Or a spectral reminder of my dad's cremated remains?
I am prepared to sell this if the price is right. Mail me with your offers.
